We will first cover the installation of Drupal on a Windows personal computer and then the installation of Drupal on a hosting account. We first cover Drupal 7 and then we will cover Drupal 8. After doing the installation of Drupal on a Windows machine we will explain on how to install it on a Linux machine. The first step is to get all the necessary tools together and I will give you a list of tools that are free to download and use and that over the years have proven to be the easiest and most relable to use. You are welcome to use any other tools that works for you but the following is what works for me:
- 7zip - A file archiving program to zip and unzip files
- WAMP - A web server program used to host websites on your personal computer
- Sublime Text 3 - A code editor that will be used to edit php and css code
- Drupal installation files
Once you have downloaded and installed the above program you are ready to start the installation.
In our next lesson we are going to install Drupal and set it up so we can teach you how to use Drupal and create a stunning website for yourself.
